Back to Pen & Paper
I’ve recently switched back to taking notes with good old pen and paper.
Over time, I realised I was chasing the idea of having the perfect note-taking system. I wanted my notes to be beautifully organised, searchable, synced across all my devices, and accessible everywhere. I spent a surprising amount of time thinking about apps, folder structures, syncing, plugins, formatting, and how to keep everything consistent across devices.
Somewhere along the way, I realised that I was spending more time thinking about how to manage my notes than actually learning from them.
The purpose of taking notes was to understand, remember, and learn better. But instead, I was constantly thinking about where a note should go, how it should look, and whether it would sync properly.
So, I’m going back to the basics.
Pen. Paper. Learn. Move on.
My notes don’t need to be perfect. They don’t need to look pretty or follow a complicated system. They just need to help me understand and remember what I’m learning.
Sometimes, simplifying the process is more valuable than optimising it.
